Alimony in South Carolina
South Carolina has four different types of alimony that may be granted by the court.
These include:
- Permanent periodic alimony. This is generally granted when ongoing support is needed for a financially disadvantaged spouse. It is generally paid every month. It ends when either spouse dies or if the supported spouse remarries or cohabits continuously with a romantic partner. It can also be modified when circumstances change in the future.
